Lit the Light - Scribes needed for Visual challenged friends

Volunteers help as many visually challenged students to read chapters from English, Tamil and history books as part of the mass reading exercise. The volunteers also help in  creating audio recordings to aid the students prepare better for examinations.
“At present, there are over 4,000 visually impaired students in the city who are not getting enough time to prepare for examination through the mass reading event. We are looking at giving visually impaired students a chance to be able to learn the chapters in their syllabus through events like these. Besides, the event is an opportunity for first-time readers to experience the joy of reading to others and help visually impaired students learn,” says Rakesh, a volunteer at Youth for Seva.
“The event has helped me volunteer as a reading scribe for a visually impaired student. The experience was humbling as it helped me teach and learn at the same time and do something good,” says Aarthi S, a history student from a city college who volunteered at one of  the event.

On , November 3rd ,2015 I had an opportunity in help them in Reading sessions for my visually Impaired friends in Wellington Arts College opposite to Marina beach, opposite to Avayar statue.
